About

I am a Japanese-Irish pianist based in Vienna, originally from Tokyo. Having lived and studied in several countries, including Ireland, New Zealand, Canada and Austria, I have developed an artistic perspective shaped by different cultural experiences. I studied piano at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and am currently pursuing postgraduate studies in piano performance and contemporary music. Alongside performing, I am interested in the relationship between music, philosophy and the body, and how different cultural perspectives can open new ways of experiencing sound. I enjoy bringing audiences closer to music through thoughtful programming and creating meaningful connections between performers and listeners.

Music

My repertoire spans the Classical, Romantic, twentieth-century and contemporary traditions. I regularly perform works by Beethoven, Schumann, Debussy and Ravel, alongside composers such as Arnold Schoenberg, Luigi Nono, Toru Takemitsu Minako Tokuyama and Toshio Hosokawa. My musical background is rooted in the European classical piano tradition, but I am equally interested in exploring contemporary music and the dialogue between Western and Japanese aesthetics. I am particularly drawn to music that challenges conventional ideas of sound, time, gesture and expression. My programmes often bring together works from different periods and cultural backgrounds, creating unexpected connections between established repertoire and lesser-known contemporary voices.
