About

Sibyl is comprised of sisters Chloe and Lily Holgate. Based in NYC, Chloe is a classical choral singer and soloist who can be heard singing with Musica Sacra, Voices of Ascension, Trinity-Wall Street and her trio, Modern Medieval. Lily is a violinist that has performed as a chamber musician on concert series throughout the country, and she frequently can be heard in the pit orchestras of various Broadway musicals. They have been singing together since they were children, but it was during the Pandemic that they decided to devote themselves to music that they could perform with just their two voices and an occasional string line. Sibyl is currently finishing their first album, featuring their own arrangements and compositions.

Music

We perform creative arrangements from a variety genres; from the Beatles, to murder ballads to Bach. In addition, we have written music featuring poetry by Edna St Vincent Millay and Emily Dickinson-- this is music for two voices and violin/viola accompaniment. It is sparse, yet simultaneously playful and hauntingly beautiful, and it is inspired by music within the contemporary, early and folk music soundworlds. We have been told our music is a mix between Meredith Monk and Simon and Garfunkel!
