I'm thrilled to welcome Chandler Yu and Shuo Zhai for an amazing program featuring Ravel and Prokofiev.
Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 7:30pm
What's the music?
Artists play with chiaroscuro, the contrast of light and shadow, to create depth and drama. What does that sound like in music? We’ll explore that idea through two pieces:
Maurice Ravel: Violin Sonata No. 2 (1923–1927)
Classical music meets jazz club. Ravel plays with blues riffs and offbeat rhythms to create a work that's unexpectedly fresh.
Sergei Prokofiev: Violin Sonata No. 1, Op. 80 (1938–1946)
Intense and haunting, shaped by the aftermath of WWII with Baroque style throwbacks and a film score atmosphere.
Come for the fun and stay for the drama. See you there!
