Full program notes

This program features music of the unlikely duo, the low end best friends, the viola and cello! In this 45-60 min program, we’ll guide the audience through the greatest pairing in all of musical history representing the highs (and literal lows) of the repertoire. Works to be featured are Beethoven’s sprightly Eyeglass Duo, Rebecca Clarke’s lovely but wonky Lullaby and Grotesque, Caroline Shaw’s rhythmically atmospheric Limestone and Felt, Walter Piston’s vibrant Duo, and the emotional Eccles Sonata.


Historical context

This concert represents music spanning from the baroque to the modern day, featuring two incredible female composers as well as classic war horses.
